Where it came from
Operation Han-Gyaku-Sei Million Arthur, or Operation Rebellion Million Arthur, was produced by J.C.Staff in 2019 as a special episode following the conclusion of the second season of the anime series. The series is part of the broader Million Arthur franchise, which originated as a digital card battle game developed by Square Enix. The anime adaptation was designed to expand the narrative universe, focusing on a group of six Arthurs who strive to rectify the chaotic timeline of Britain after the misuse of the legendary Excalibur.
The production sought to maintain the high-energy, comedic, and action-oriented tone established in the main television series. J.C.Staff utilized their experience with fast-paced fantasy narratives to craft this special, which serves as a concluding wrap-up for the anime's overarching storyline. While the franchise itself has a devoted following due to its mobile gaming roots and elaborate character designs, this specific special was received primarily as a definitive closure for the anime viewership rather than a shift in the series' established aesthetic direction.
