Where it came from
Oreca Battle was produced by studio Xebec and aired in 2014, emerging from the popular arcade-based trading card game developed by Konami. The series was designed to serve as a companion to the digital platform, leveraging the game's fantasy aesthetic to engage a younger demographic by bringing the game's unique roster of monsters and RPG-style combat mechanics to life in an episodic format.
The animation reflects the high-energy, digital-centric style characteristic of Xebec's mid-2010s output, prioritizing the visual translation of trading card stats and character evolutions into coherent action sequences. While the series was largely intended as a marketing vehicle for the physical arcade cabinets and collectible cards, it remains noted for its commitment to the lore established by its source material, appealing primarily to dedicated fans of the Konami franchise.
