Pon no Michi

Pon no Michi is an original Japanese television anime series produced by the animation studio OLM, which premiered in January 2024. The series was conceived to blend the slice-of-life genre with the traditional strategic game of mahjong. Set in Onomichi, Hiroshima Prefecture, the narrative focuses on a group of high school girls who find a communal space in a vacant house, formerly owned by the protagonist's grandmother, where they spend their time playing the game and bonding over daily life.

The project features character designs by Negi Haruba, the creator of The Quintessential Quintuplets, whose distinctive style heavily influenced the aesthetic of the series. The show was produced with the intent of highlighting the charm and cultural scenery of the Onomichi region while aiming to make the complexities of mahjong accessible and entertaining to a broad audience. Upon its release, it was noted for its relaxed pacing and focus on character chemistry within its local setting.
