Where it came from
The third season of PriPara, which premiered in 2016, serves as a pivotal installment in the long-running multimedia franchise centered on the life of an idol in a world where anyone can perform. Produced by Tatsunoko Production in collaboration with Dongwoo A&E, this season builds upon the established foundation of the series by introducing the concept of the Divine Idol Grand Prix, shifting the narrative focus toward high-stakes competition and complex interpersonal relationships among the performers.
The aesthetic and character design for this season maintain the vibrant, high-energy style characteristic of the franchise, designed to appeal to younger audiences while sustaining the engagement of long-term fans. By integrating deeper character development for protagonists like Laala Manaka and introducing new rivals, the production team successfully evolved the show's tone. The season is widely regarded as a significant expansion of the PriPara universe, refining its blend of performance-based storytelling and character-driven drama.
