Pure Mail

Pure Mail was released in 2001 by the independent animation studio Green Bunny. As an original video animation, or OVA, it emerged during a period where small studios were experimenting with niche genres and direct-to-video releases to bypass the constraints of television broadcasting. The work is characterized by the specific aesthetic sensibilities common to adult-oriented animation of the early 2000s, focusing on stylized character designs and a straightforward narrative structure typical of Green Bunny's catalog at the time.

The production sought to capitalize on the rising popularity of the OVA format, which allowed creators more artistic freedom and a greater focus on visual detail within a shorter runtime. While not widely covered by mainstream critics, the title remains a documented piece of the studio's early filmography. It reflects the era's transition toward digital compositing and the persistent interest in distinct, character-driven animation that defined independent Japanese studios during the turn of the millennium.
