Mini anime to celebrate the Di Gi Charat franchise's 24th anniversary.
Dejiko and Puchiko are alien girls from the planet Di Gi Charat who have come to Earth. Hikaru has become a high school girl, and the Black Gema-Gema Gang continues to haughtily push forward down the path of evil. In the midst of all this bustling excitement, Brocco-desu, the goddess of the company Broccoli, and Bushirodo-no-Mikoto, the goddess of the company Bushiroad, enter the scene as new regulars.

Where it came from
Reiwa no Di Gi Charat was produced by LIDENFILMS and released in 2022 to commemorate the 24th anniversary of the Di Gi Charat franchise. Created by Koge-Donbo and originally developed by Broccoli for the Gamers retail chain, the franchise became a cult phenomenon in the late 1990s and early 2000s, defined by the character Di Gi Charat, or Dejiko, and her distinct verbal tic of ending sentences with 'nyu'.
The 2022 series serves as a series of short-form episodes intended to revitalize the brand for a modern audience while maintaining the chaotic, meta-humorous tone of the original shorts. Directed by Hiroaki Sakurai, who helmed the franchise's earlier iterations, the production leans into self-referential comedy about the passage of time and the challenges of being a mascot character in the Reiwa era, ultimately receiving a warm reception from long-time fans who appreciated the return of the original voice cast and the faithfulness to the series' lighthearted, surreal legacy.
