Romance is in the Flash of the Sword II

Romance is in the Flash of the Sword II was released in 2001 by NuTech Digital, a studio known for its role in distributing and producing English-language versions of Japanese animation during the early 2000s. The title serves as a direct continuation of the series, fitting into the late-nineties and early-millennium wave of direct-to-video anime releases that sought to capitalize on the growing North American market for niche OVA content.

The production follows the established aesthetic of its predecessor, utilizing the distinct digital animation styles that were becoming more accessible to smaller studios at the time. As an OVA, it was crafted for an enthusiast audience, emphasizing stylistic swordplay and melodrama. Upon its release, it was received primarily within the burgeoning online anime fandom, serving as a representative example of the localized, independently distributed titles that defined the era's home video landscape.
