Seigi wo Aisuru Mono Gekkou Kamen

Seigi wo Aisuru Mono Gekkou Kamen was produced by Knack Productions in 1972 as a modern television revival of the classic Moonlight Mask character. Originally conceived in the late 1950s as a radio and television serial, the masked hero became a foundational archetype for the Japanese tokusatsu genre. This 1972 iteration transitioned the character into an animated format, reflecting the era's growing interest in superhero-focused anime series during the early 1970s.

The series was designed to update the aesthetic of the original live-action vigilante for a younger audience, utilizing the streamlined, bold linework characteristic of 1970s animation studios like Knack. While it sought to capitalize on the nostalgia surrounding the legacy of the original Moonlight Mask, the series is often viewed by historians as a mid-tier entry in the decade's broader landscape of animated superhero programming. It remains a notable archival piece representing the transitional period where classic tokusatsu characters were adapted into the burgeoning medium of television anime.
