SERVAMP

Servamp originated as a manga series created by Strike Tanaka, which began serialization in 2011 before being adapted into a television anime series in 2016. Produced by studio Brain's Base and co-animated with Platinum Vision, the series blends supernatural elements with the trope of vampires tied to human servants through pacts. The anime adaptation was intended to bring the complex character dynamics and urban fantasy aesthetics of the source material to a broader audience, focusing on the protagonist Mahiru Shirota and his unintended contract with Sleepy Ash.

The character designs for the anime were handled by Junko Yamanaka, who adapted Tanaka's original visual style to suit the constraints and fluidity of television animation. The production sought to capture a dark, stylish tone that emphasized the contrast between the mundane school life of the characters and the hidden, violent world of the Servamps. Upon its release, the series was received as a solid entry in the supernatural action genre, praised for its unique premise involving the Seven Deadly Sins, even as viewers noted the challenges inherent in compressing a long-running manga narrative into a twelve-episode format.
