Okometsubu Fujiyama has recently transferred over to a new school, Wakame High School. His goal is to make 100 friends--until he meets the extremely wierd Masaru Hananakajima. Masaru is a martial artist whose specialty is the "Sexy Commando" form of martial art. Masaru forms a club based on this art, including Fujiyama, who he nicknames Fuumin, in the club. The club becomes full of strange, yet wacky people. Aliens, moustaches, and cute fuzzy animals are encountered as the club moves along and gets steadily more popular.

Where it came from
Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoiyo!! Masaru-san was produced by Studio Madhouse and broadcast in 1998, serving as a landmark adaptation of Kyosuke Usuta's surreal gag manga serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump. The series emerged from a transitional period in anime where absurd, non-sequitur humor began to find a distinct foothold in television formats, moving away from the more conventional pacing of the time.
The series was directed by Akitaro Daichi, whose signature rapid-fire pacing and minimalist visual gags perfectly translated Usuta’s unconventional manga style. The production is widely regarded by critics as a cult classic for its experimental approach to character animation and its willingness to break the fourth wall, establishing a template for the modern absurdist comedy subgenre.
