so near yet so far

So Near Yet So Far is a short animated film produced at Tama Art University, a premier institution for the arts in Japan known for fostering distinct, experimental voices in animation. The project emerged from the university's rigorous curriculum, which encourages students to explore unconventional narrative structures and personal artistic expression, moving away from the high-octane commercial standards common in the broader anime industry.

The film is celebrated for its atmospheric storytelling and refined visual sensibility. Designed as an academic exercise that evolved into a refined piece of independent cinema, the work captures a poignant sense of longing. It reflects the school's emphasis on visual composition and emotional subtlety, traits that have earned its student filmmakers recognition at international animation festivals and praise for their grounded, evocative approach to the medium.
