Sore Ike! Anpanman: Horrorman to Hora Horako

Sore Ike! Anpanman: Horrorman to Hora Horako was released in 2007 as the nineteenth feature film in the long-running Anpanman franchise. Created by Takashi Yanase, the franchise centers on the titular hero, a sentient bun who protects his friends from the antagonist Baikinman. This specific entry focuses on Horrorman, a skeletal comedic character who often finds himself caught between his own bumbling nature and his desire to befriend others, reflecting the gentle, moral-driven storytelling that has defined the series since its television debut in 1988.

The film was produced by TMS Entertainment, continuing their longstanding partnership with Yanase to adapt his picture book characters for the screen. The aesthetic maintains the recognizable, rounded character designs and bright, minimalist animation style that make the franchise accessible to young children. Like its predecessors, the film was received as a lighthearted educational feature for the Japanese market, reinforcing themes of kindness and empathy that are hallmarks of the Anpanman legacy.
