Sore Yuke! Gakkyuu Iinchou

Sore Yuke! Gakkyuu Iinchou, or Go! Class Representative, is a comedic shoujo manga series written and illustrated by Moyoco Anno. First serialized in the mid-1990s, the work emerged during a period when Anno was establishing herself as a distinct voice in manga by subverting traditional tropes. The story centers on the exaggerated, high-pressure life of a dedicated class representative, utilizing slapstick humor and stylized visuals to satirize the social expectations placed upon Japanese students.

The design of the series reflects Anno’s early signature aesthetic, characterized by bold, expressive linework and a kinetic sense of movement that mirrored the frenetic energy of the protagonist. It was received as a humorous departure from more earnest shoujo titles of the era. The work is widely regarded as a formative project in Anno’s bibliography, showcasing the wit and character-driven focus that would define her later, more commercially recognized successes in the fashion and seinen genres.
