Lapis is the princess of Sorcerland. She's beautiful, powerful and has a sparkling personality; it`s too bad that she's not that bright. She'll go to any length to protect the most innocent of creatures even if it means destroying the kingdom to do so. And lets not forget her obsession with pudding!
Detatoko Princess is a laugh-out-loud lampoon of all the fantasy stereotypes you've come to love with a generous heaping scoop of slapstick!

Where it came from
Suddenly Princess, known in Japan as Mahou Shoujo Pretty Sammy, is an OVA series produced by J.C. Staff and released in 1997. It serves as a spin-off of the Tenchi Muyo! franchise, recontextualizing the character Sasami Kawai into a magical girl narrative. The project was conceived during a period when the magical girl genre was experiencing a significant resurgence, allowing the studio to experiment with established character archetypes within a new, lighthearted fantasy framework.
The character designs were handled by Hitoshi Okuda, who had previously worked extensively on the Tenchi Muyo! manga. His aesthetic approach for this series emphasized whimsical, high-energy visuals that contrasted with the more grounded sci-fi elements of the parent series. Upon its release, the OVA was generally well-received by fans of the franchise for its comedic timing and character-driven storytelling, ultimately paving the way for a subsequent television anime adaptation the following year.
