Suzy's Zoo: I Love Witzy!

Suzy's Zoo: I Love Witzy! is a television series released in the mid-2000s, based on the long-standing illustrations by Suzy Spafford. Spafford began her career in the late 1960s creating greeting cards that featured her signature whimsical, soft-edged animal characters, characterized by their round faces and gentle expressions. The transition of these stationary figures into an animated format was intended to capture the innocence and charm of her original sketches, aiming to appeal to a preschool audience through simple, comforting narratives centered on discovery and friendship.

The series was produced by Digital Media Lab, which utilized 3D computer animation to translate Spafford's 2D artistic style. The design approach sought to maintain the hand-drawn aesthetic of the source material despite the digital medium, prioritizing pastel color palettes and tactile textures. While the show found a niche within early childhood programming blocks, it is primarily regarded as an extension of the broader Suzy's Zoo brand, serving as a visual exploration of the iconic duckling character Witzy and his companions living in the cozy environment of Duckport.
