The Abashiri family is one of the most notorious criminal gangs ever. Papa Abashiri decides that it's about time his little girl is raised more appropriately, as a young lady and not as a member of a deadly gang. He decides to send his dear daughter Kukunosuke to an elite boarding school. The problem is this school doesn't have any intention of graduating their students. Crazed faculty members with homicidal and perverted tendencies, violent and unfriendly classmates, all of them welcome Kukunosuke to her new home. Pretty soon, it's an all-out teacher vs. students war. Will she be able to finish school before school finishes her?

Where it came from
The Abashiri Family (Abashiri Ikka) OVA series was released in 1991 by Studio Pierrot, adapting the raucous and hyper-violent manga by Go Nagai. The production emerged during the golden age of the original video animation market, a period that allowed studios to experiment with more adult-oriented, transgressive, and niche material that might not have passed broadcast television standards. It serves as a stylistic tribute to the exploitation and black comedy traditions that defined much of Nagai's earlier career in the 1970s.
The character designs and animation direction sought to translate the grotesque, slapstick, and intentionally unrefined aesthetic of Nagai's original illustrations into a kinetic, fluid format. Studio Pierrot prioritized a chaotic, high-energy visual language to match the absurdity of the Abashiri clan, a criminal family whose ineptitude is matched only by their excessive volatility. Upon its release, the OVA was recognized as a faithful, if niche, stylistic translation of the source material, celebrated by fans of cult animation for its unapologetic commitment to dark humor and surrealism.
