The Duke of Death and His Maid Season 3

The Duke of Death and His Maid, known in Japan as Shinigami Bocchan to Kuro Maid, originated as a manga series by Koharu Inoue, serialized starting in 2017. The narrative centers on a young nobleman cursed by a witch, causing anything he touches to perish, and his complex, tender relationship with his maid, Alice. This premise blends gothic aesthetics with lighthearted, character-driven romance, subverting dark tropes through emotional intimacy and humor.

The third season, produced by J.C.Staff and released in 2024 under the management of NBCUniversal Entertainment Japan, serves as the conclusion to the anime adaptation. The production team aimed to maintain the series' signature transition from 2D animation for the characters to 3D CGI for the environments, a stylistic choice intended to emphasize the isolation of the Duke. Upon its release, the final season was received as a faithful closure to the story, praised for successfully resolving the central tension of the curse while remaining consistent with the tone established in the earlier seasons.
