The Legend of Sky Lord

The Legend of Sky Lord, released as a Chinese original net animation (ONA) on the streaming platform iQIYI, emerged during a period of significant growth for domestic 3D animation in China. Produced by the studio to capitalize on the increasing popularity of xianxia and fantasy adaptations, the series focuses on expansive world-building and martial arts cultivation tropes common to high-fantasy literature, aiming to provide a serialized high-fidelity visual experience for digital audiences.

The design and production were driven by the studio’s pursuit of modernizing traditional mythical aesthetics through advanced character modeling and dynamic action sequences. By leveraging contemporary computer-generated imagery, the creative team sought to bridge the gap between classic storytelling and the aesthetic preferences of younger viewers who favor fast-paced, episodic fantasy. Upon its release, the series became a notable entry in iQIYI's catalog, recognized for its role in expanding the reach of Chinese-produced web animations in both domestic and international streaming markets.
