Where it came from
TONIKAWA: Over The Moon For You ~High School Days~ was released in 2023 as a four-episode original net animation series, serving as a direct continuation of the second season of the Tonikaku Kawaii anime adaptation. Produced by Studio Seven Arcs, the project was developed to explore the protagonists' experiences within a high school setting, bridging specific gaps in Kenjiro Hata’s original manga narrative. The production maintained the series' established aesthetic, focusing on the domestic and romantic development of Nasa and Tsukasa Yuzaki as they navigate new social environments.
The character designs and animation direction for this installment were handled by the core team at Seven Arcs, aiming to preserve the lighthearted, earnest tone characteristic of the franchise. The series was met with positive reception from the existing fanbase, who valued the consistent characterization and the show's departure from typical shonen tropes in favor of a dedicated look at the couple's relationship dynamics during their school tenure. It stands as a significant addition to the broader Tonikaku Kawaii media expansion, highlighting the studio's commitment to adapting Hata's source material with tonal accuracy.
