Where it came from
The Toyota Mirai was introduced in 2014 as the world’s first mass-produced hydrogen fuel cell vehicle. Developed as a bold step toward the 'hydrogen society' envisioned by Toyota, the car was designed to demonstrate that zero-emission transportation could achieve the range and refueling speeds of traditional gasoline vehicles while emitting nothing but water vapor.
The vehicle's design philosophy centered on aerodynamics and cooling, featuring distinctive intake grilles to feed air to the fuel cell stack. It was met with significant attention from automotive critics and environmental policy experts alike, serving as a technical showcase for Toyota's long-term commitment to alternative energy sources rather than immediate mass-market dominance.
