Where it came from
Wan Wan Train Doko e Iku? (Where is the Doggy Train Going?) was released in 2024 by Kadokawa as an original net animation. It emerged during a period where Kadokawa expanded its digital outreach, focusing on accessible, short-form content designed to appeal to younger audiences while utilizing established animation production techniques.
The production is rooted in a contemporary trend of gentle, episodic storytelling often found in short-form Japanese animation. The design aesthetic prioritizes soft palettes and clear, expressive character work, intended to create a soothing viewing experience. As a niche web release, the work has been received as a modest contribution to Kadokawa’s digital library, recognized primarily for its technical polish and target-specific charm.
