Warm, Winter Canada

Warm, Winter Canada is a short promotional film produced by CoMix Wave Films in 2008. Commissioned by the Canadian Tourism Commission, the piece was designed to showcase the beauty of Canada's winter landscapes to a Japanese audience through the lens of high-quality animation. It represents a period where CoMix Wave, led by the aesthetic sensibilities associated with director Makoto Shinkai, was increasingly sought after for its ability to craft emotionally resonant, visually stunning short-form content.

The animation reflects the studio's signature style of blending hyper-realistic background art with quiet, atmospheric storytelling. By focusing on the sensory details of a Canadian winter—such as light, snow textures, and serene environments—the creative team aimed to evoke a sense of travel-inspired wonder. Upon its release, the project was recognized for its technical polish and remains a notable example of the intersection between corporate branding and the elevated artistic standards of modern Japanese animation.
