Where it came from
WiSH VOYAGE serves as the opening theme song and accompanying animated sequence for the first season of the IDOLiSH7 anime, produced by studio Kamikaze Douga and aired in 2018. The project originated from a popular rhythm game franchise, requiring the studio to translate complex 2D character designs into a polished, high-energy sequence that introduces the seven members of the titular idol group.
The animation style is characteristic of Kamikaze Douga, known for blending stylized cel-shaded 3D character models with dynamic camera movements and vibrant stage lighting. The sequence was intended to establish the group's aspirational and optimistic tone, emphasizing their synchronized performance style to effectively introduce their visual identity to an international audience.
