Where it came from
Wo Zai Tianting Shou Feipin, or I Collect Scrap in Heaven, is a web animation series produced by the Chinese studio Soyep. Emerging from the vibrant ecosystem of Chinese original network animation (ONA), the series adapts popular internet literature tropes, blending fantasy elements with a humorous, contemporary perspective on the traditional celestial bureaucracy.
The production leans into the stylized, fast-paced aesthetic typical of modern 2D-influenced 3D animation common in the region's current digital media landscape. By focusing on the mundane task of resource recovery within a mythological setting, the series aims to subvert the grandeur of xianxia narratives, finding resonance with viewers who appreciate satirical takes on labor and societal hierarchies.
