Where it came from
World Fool News was produced in 2013 by CoMix Wave Films, the studio widely recognized for its collaborations with director Makoto Shinkai. Released as an Original Net Animation, the project served as a stylistic showcase for the studio's technical prowess, blending sharp, satirical storytelling with the high-fidelity aesthetic that became synonymous with the production house during this period.
The project was designed to be a biting commentary on contemporary media, utilizing a fast-paced, humorous format to explore the absurdity of news cycles. While it did not reach the widespread international acclaim of feature-length CoMix Wave titles, it remains a notable example of the studio's experimental period, demonstrating their ability to transition from atmospheric emotional dramas to punchy, character-driven comedy.
