Yamada may be shy and rather clumsy, but the flower gardens at her school have always brought her happiness. Suddenly, a different sort of beauty catches her eye—the vivacious track star, Kase-san. Although the two girls don't seem to have much in common, they soon start a romance where each must learn an important lesson in tending their budding relationship. Can the two girls, so different from each other, learn how to make their first love blossom?

Where it came from
Your Light: Kase-san and Morning Glories was produced by Studio ZEXCS and released in 2017 as a short animated film. It serves as an adaptation of the popular yuri manga series by Hiromi Takashima, capturing the delicate and quiet romantic progression between the track star Tomoka Kase and the garden-loving Yui Yamada. The short was intended to bridge the narrative gap between the established manga volumes and the subsequent theatrical feature film.
The production sought to preserve the soft, sun-drenched aesthetic of Takashima’s original artwork, emphasizing character intimacy through atmospheric lighting and naturalistic movement. Upon its release, it was well-received by fans of the series for its faithful tone and emotional sincerity, establishing the stylistic template that would define the studio's broader Kase-san project and highlighting the medium's capacity for understated storytelling.
