Yume Juuya

Yume Juuya, or Ten Nights of Dreams, was produced by Yostar Pictures and released in 2021 as a celebratory project for the third anniversary of the mobile game Arknights. The animation adapts the surreal, atmospheric short stories of Natsume Soseki, reimagining the game's complex world through a dreamlike, literary lens. By stepping away from the typical action-heavy narrative of the franchise, the studio sought to emphasize the emotional depth and aesthetic versatility of the game's setting.

The animation reflects a departure from the studio's standard production techniques, utilizing a more experimental, painterly visual style that aligns with the anthology format. Directors at Yostar Pictures focused on capturing the melancholic and ethereal tone inherent in Soseki's original prose while weaving in the visual motifs familiar to the player base. Upon its release, it was well-received for its artistic ambition and its success in elevating mobile game tie-in media into the realm of contemplative short-form animation.
