As usual, the train was packed. The girl sitting in her seat gives her seat to an old man. But then another one came. By portraying the sufferers in the midst of the mundane, the film asks the question of "suffering" and what kindness is in the modern age. This work is an animation of the world of a song sung by Wataru Takada based on a poem by Hiroshi Yoshino.

Where it came from
Yuuyake is a tabletop role-playing game created by game designer Ewen Cluney, originally published in 2008. The title, which translates to 'sunset' in Japanese, was developed as a reflection of the 'iyashikei' or 'healing' genre found in Japanese media, focusing on evocative, slice-of-life storytelling rather than traditional combat or dungeon-crawling mechanics. The game utilizes a unique system involving playing cards to resolve conflicts, emphasizing the emotional resonance of the narrative over tactical simulation.
The game is widely recognized for its minimalist and deeply atmospheric design, which encourages players to inhabit the lives of ordinary individuals in a quiet, stylized version of Japan. By prioritizing themes of nostalgia and the beauty of mundane experiences, Cluney crafted a tabletop experience that stood in stark contrast to the crunchy, rules-heavy systems that dominated the industry at the time. It has since gained a cult following among fans of indie RPGs and Japanese pop culture, praised for its success in translating the gentle aesthetic of works like those found in contemporary Japanese animation into an interactive format.
