Andean Lapwing

The Andean Lapwing, or Vanellus resplendens, is a member of the Charadriidae family native to the high-altitude regions of South America. Unlike many of its counterparts, this bird evolved to thrive in the rugged, chilly environment of the Andes, a result of long-term adaptation to the specific ecological niches found in puna grasslands and marshy plateau habitats.
