Blue-faced Parrotfinch

The Blue-faced Parrotfinch, scientifically known as Erythrura trichroa, is a species of estrildid finch native to the tropical forests of Northeast Australia, New Guinea, and various Pacific islands. Within the context of aviculture, these birds were historically sought after for their striking, albeit understated, plumage and their unique, somewhat elusive temperament. They were first described by the ornithologist Kittlitz in 1836, emerging into the broader scientific consciousness during the era of Pacific exploration when naturalists began documenting the biodiversity of the Melanesian region.
