Cassin's Hawk-Eagle

The Cassin's Hawk-Eagle, scientifically classified as Aquila africana, is a forest-dwelling raptor native to the lowland rainforests of Central and West Africa. It was first described by the ornithologist John Cassin in the mid-19th century, whose extensive contributions to the study of African avian species led to the bird being named in his honor. Within the historical context of 19th-century taxonomy, this species was identified as a distinct, elusive predator adapted to life beneath the dense canopy, setting it apart from more widespread African eagles.
