Chestnut-winged Babbler

The Chestnut-winged Babbler, known scientifically as Cyanoderma erythropterum, is a species native to the tropical forests of Southeast Asia, including parts of the Malay Peninsula, Borneo, and Sumatra. Taxonomically, it sits within the family Timaliidae, a diverse group of passerine birds characterized by their adaptation to dense undergrowth and complex, social behaviors. The species was formally described by Edward Blyth in 1842, a pivotal period in nineteenth-century ornithology when European naturalists were intensely cataloging the avian diversity of the Asian tropics.
