Chopi Blackbird

The Chopi Blackbird, scientifically known as Gnorimopsar chopi, is a passerine bird native to South America, primarily found in open habitats like grasslands, savannas, and agricultural lands across Brazil, Bolivia, Argentina, and Paraguay. Unlike many other members of the icterid family, this species has adapted well to human-altered landscapes, often observed foraging on the ground in groups. Its distinct silhouette is defined by pointed wings that facilitate agile flight and a characteristically rounded tail, which differentiates it from its more pointed-tailed relatives.

The species was formally described by the French ornithologist Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot in 1819.
