Collared Lory

The Collared Lory, scientifically classified as Vini solitaria, is a species of parrot endemic to the Fiji islands. First described by German naturalist Philipp Ludwig Statius Müller in 1776, the species evolved in the isolated tropical environments of the South Pacific. Its development and distinctive plumage reflect the evolutionary pressures of island biogeography, where birds often adapt specialized, vibrant colorations within restricted habitats.

The bird is characterized by its rounded wings and rounded tail, physical traits that facilitate maneuverability within dense forest canopies.
