Crimson Rosella

The Crimson Rosella, scientifically classified as Platycercus elegans, is a parrot species native to eastern and southeastern Australia. While not an 'item' in the manufactured sense, its place in the history of ornithology began with its formal description by naturalist Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1788.
