Dull-blue Flycatcher

The Dull-blue Flycatcher, scientifically classified as Eumyias sordidus, is an endemic species restricted to the highlands of Sri Lanka. Evolutionary biologists categorize it within the Muscicapidae family, a group that diversified as species adapted to the distinct ecological niches of the island's montane forests. It was formally described and cataloged by British zoologist Edward Blyth in the mid-19th century, a period marked by intense colonial-era documentation of South Asian biodiversity.

The bird's distinct morphology, characterized by its rounded wing shape and subtle notched tail, reflects its specialized role as a sit-and-wait predator within the dense, shaded understory of cloud forests.
