Fairy Prion

The fairy prion, Pachyptila turtur, belongs to the family Procellariidae, a group of seabirds uniquely adapted for life across the Southern Ocean. Evolutionarily, these birds developed their distinctive soaring wing shape and pointed tail to navigate the high-latitude winds and oceanic currents of the Southern Hemisphere.
