Green-crowned Plovercrest

The Green-crowned Plovercrest, scientifically classified as Stephanoxis lalandi, is a unique hummingbird endemic to the humid forests and edge habitats of southeastern Brazil and northern Argentina. Named in honor of the French naturalist Pierre Antoine Delalande, the species was historically documented by ornithologists in the early 19th century as part of the broader effort to catalog the avian diversity of the Atlantic Forest region.
