Guianan Woodcreeper

The Guianan woodcreeper, Lepidocolaptes albolineatus, is a species of passerine bird native to the canopy and sub-canopy layers of the humid lowland forests of the Guiana Shield. Identified within the Dendrocolaptinae subfamily, this bird is part of a complex group of woodcreepers that have evolved highly specialized traits for navigating vertical tree trunks. It is characterized by its narrow, pointed wings and rigid, pointed tail feathers, which function as a support structure, allowing the bird to prop itself against bark while foraging for insects in crevices.
