Malayan Crestless Fireback

The Malayan Crestless Fireback is a species of pheasant native to the lowland forests of the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. Its taxonomic classification was established in the 19th century as ornithologists sought to catalog the diverse avian life of Southeast Asia. Unlike many of its counterparts in the Phasianidae family, this bird is distinguished by the absence of an elongated crest, a morphological feature that guided its specific naming and identification within the broader genus Lophura.
