Mascarene Swiftlet

The Mascarene swiftlet, scientifically known as Aerodramus francicus, is a small insectivorous bird endemic to the Mascarene Islands in the Indian Ocean, specifically Mauritius and Réunion. Its history is tied to the evolution of island avian populations, representing a lineage of swiftlets that adapted to the distinct ecological niches of these volcanic territories.
