Rufous-fronted Antthrush

The Rufous-fronted Antthrush is a member of the Formicariidae family, a group of elusive, ground-dwelling passerines primarily found in the tropical forests of South America. First described by the German ornithologist Carl Eduard Hellmayr in 1902, the species was historically noted for its restricted range in the southwestern Amazon basin, specifically within southeastern Peru and western Brazil. Like other members of its genus, it evolved to occupy the dark, damp forest floor, where it maintains a solitary existence that makes it a prized observation for dedicated neotropical birders.
