Rufous Nightjar

The Rufous Nightjar, Antrostomus rufus, is a crepuscular bird species native to the Neotropics, formally described by French naturalist Louis Jean Pierre Vieillot in 1819. As a member of the Caprimulgidae family, it occupies a specialized ecological niche in forest edges and clearings, having evolved over millennia to remain camouflaged against the leaf litter during daylight hours.
