Sao Paulo Bristle-Tyrant

The São Paulo Bristle-Tyrant, scientifically classified as Pogonotriccus paulista, is a small passerine bird endemic to the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil and northeastern Argentina. First described in 1906 by the ornithologist Hermann von Ihering, this species emerged into the scientific record as part of the rigorous cataloging of South American biodiversity during the early 20th century. Its taxonomy reflects the complexities of the Tyrannidae family, specifically the group known for their bristles at the base of the bill, which assist in aerial foraging maneuvers.
