Sao Tome Paradise-Flycatcher

The Sao Tome Paradise-Flycatcher (Terpsiphone atrochalybeia) is an endemic passerine bird restricted to the forests of São Tomé, an island nation in the Gulf of Guinea. Evolutionarily, it diverged from mainland African ancestors, developing unique physical characteristics such as its deep, metallic plumage and distinctive tail structure that suit the dense, humid environment of its volcanic island home.
