Sharpe's Drongo

Sharpe's Drongo (Dicrurus sharpei) was historically categorized as a subspecies of the Common Square-tailed Drongo, but it was formally recognized as a distinct species following extensive taxonomic review of the drongo family in the late 20th and early 21st centuries. Named in honor of the British zoologist Richard Bowdler Sharpe, who contributed significantly to the categorization of African avian life, the bird occupies a niche in the lowland forests of Central and Western Africa.
