Short-billed Dowitcher

The Short-billed Dowitcher, Limnodromus griseus, is a medium-sized shorebird characterized by its narrow, pointed wings and distinctively long, straight bill. Taxonomically, it was long conflated with its sibling species, the Long-billed Dowitcher, until distinct differences in vocalizations and breeding plumage were formally recognized by ornithologists in the mid-20th century.
