Snow Pigeon

The snow pigeon (Columba leuconota) is a high-altitude species native to the rugged terrain of the Himalayas and the mountains of Central Asia. Evolutionarily adapted to life in some of the most extreme environments on earth, this bird has developed a distinctive plumage pattern that mimics the light and shadow of rocky alpine cliffs. Unlike its urban counterparts, it thrives at elevations often exceeding 4,000 meters, foraging among barren slopes and alpine meadows where few other avian species can survive.

Ornithologically, the species is recognized by its broad wings and square tail, features that provide the maneuverability necessary for navigating shifting mountain winds.
