The South Melanesian Cuckooshrike (Coracina caledonica) is a passerine bird species endemic to the archipelagos of New Caledonia and the Solomon Islands. First formally described in the 19th century, it emerged from the period of intensive European ornithological exploration in the South Pacific, where naturalists sought to catalog the distinct biodiversity of the region's isolated island chains.
