Ussher's Flycatcher

Ussher's Flycatcher, scientifically known as Artomyias ussheri, is a small passerine bird endemic to the lowland forests of West Africa. Named in honor of Herbert Taylor Ussher, a British colonial administrator and ornithologist who collected specimens in the region during the 19th century, the bird is notable for its distinct morphology. Its physical characteristics, including rounded wings and a slightly notched tail, are specialized adaptations that assist in its characteristic flycatching behavior—making short, aerial sallies from a perch to capture insects within the dense forest understory.
